Disciples Make Disciples

Following Jesus was never meant to end with us.

Someone taught you. Someone encouraged you. Someone showed you what it looked like to follow Jesus faithfully. And as we grow in Christ, we have the opportunity to do the same for someone else.

At Guthrie Grove, we want to be a church where disciples become disciple-makers—equipped to lead, teach, encourage, and carry the good news of Jesus and the coming Kingdom of God to others.

Be Part of the Chain

The faith we have received is a faith we are called to pass on.

Throughout Scripture, God's people teach the next generation, mature believers encourage younger believers, leaders equip others for ministry, and disciples make more disciples.

That means each of us has a place in the chain.

  • Learn from someone.
  • Walk alongside someone.
  • Prepare someone else to do the same.

You don't have to be a pastor or Bible teacher to make disciples. It can happen around the dinner table, in a Sunday School classroom, over coffee, at camp, in your home, or through years of simply walking faithfully beside another believer.

The goal is to become the kind of disciple who can help someone else follow Jesus too.

Grow into Leadership

Leadership in the church begins with faithful discipleship.

As you grow in your knowledge of Scripture, your character, and your ability to serve others, there may be opportunities to take greater responsibility within the life of the church.

That might mean learning to lead a Bible study, teaching a class, discipling a younger believer, helping lead a ministry, mentoring others, or preparing for pastoral or ministry leadership.

We want to help identify, encourage, and equip people who are ready to grow—not simply to fill positions, but to develop faithful leaders for the church today and for generations to come.

Ready to grow?

Go Beyond Guthrie Grove

We're part of something bigger than our local church.

Through the Church of God General Conference (COGGC), we have opportunities to learn, serve, build relationships, and participate in ministry alongside believers from other churches.

Camps, conferences, retreats, training opportunities, and other gatherings give children, teenagers, and adults opportunities to deepen their faith, develop as leaders, and form relationships that extend far beyond Guthrie Grove.

We encourage our church family to take advantage of these opportunities—not simply to attend events, but to be equipped to return home ready to strengthen the local church and share the hope of the Kingdom wherever God has placed them.

Reach Outward

Jesus sends His disciples into the world.

Multiplication happens when what God is doing in us begins to reach the people around us—our families, neighbors, coworkers, friends, and communities.

We want to be people who can explain what we believe, share the good news of Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God, invite others into Christian community, and walk patiently alongside people as they learn to follow Jesus.

You don't need a platform to do that.

You need a willingness to faithfully pass on what you have received.

Who are you learning from? And, who are you pouring into?

Every disciple has a next step.

Maybe yours is finding someone who can help you grow. Maybe it's beginning to invest intentionally in someone else. Maybe you're ready to learn how to teach or lead. Or maybe God is beginning to stir an interest in ministry that you haven't explored before.

Wherever you are, we want to help you take the next step.
